Zaelo Hub is built with escrow protection at its core. Follow these tips to trade safely and protect yourself from fraud on Nigeria's most secure marketplace.
Never transfer money directly to a seller via bank transfer, cash, or mobile money. Always pay through Zaelo Hub's checkout system so your funds are held securely in escrow until you receive and inspect the item.
When you receive an item, inspect it thoroughly before sharing the Delivery PIN with the seller. Once the PIN is entered, funds are released immediately and cannot be reversed. If the item is not as described, open a dispute instead.
Your Transaction PIN and Delivery PIN are private. Never share them with anyone who messages you claiming to be from Zaelo Hub support. Our team will never ask for your PINs via chat, email, or phone.
Keep all negotiations, agreements, and communications within Zaelo Hub's in-app chat. This creates a verifiable record that protects you in case of a dispute. Be wary of sellers who insist on WhatsApp or phone communication only.
Before buying, review the seller's store page, ratings, and verification status. Verified merchants have undergone identity verification. New accounts with no reviews selling luxury items at very low prices are a red flag.
If a seller asks you to pay outside Zaelo Hub (via direct transfer, crypto, gift cards, or cash), refuse. Off-platform payments are not covered by escrow protection and you will have no recourse if the seller disappears.
If collecting an item in person, meet in a public, well-lit area. Never go alone. Consider meeting at a bank, police station, or busy shopping centre. Avoid meeting at private residences, especially for high-value items.
Zaelo Hub will never send you text messages or emails asking you to click a link to "verify your account" or "claim a reward." If you receive such messages, do not click any links. Report them to support@zaelohub.com.
If a deal seems unrealistically cheap — a ₦500,000 iPhone for ₦50,000, for example — it is almost certainly a scam. Scammers lure victims with impossible prices, then ask for off-platform payment or disappear after receiving money.
If you encounter a suspicious listing, fraudulent seller, or believe someone is attempting to scam you, report them immediately using the "Report" button on the product page. You can also contact us at support@zaelohub.com.
Under the Consumer Protection Council Act (Cap C25 LFN 2004) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 (FCCPA), Nigerian consumers have the right to goods that match their description, are of satisfactory quality, and are fit for purpose. If a product you receive does not match the listing, you are entitled to a remedy including refund, replacement, or compensation. Zaelo Hub's escrow system enforces these rights by holding funds until you confirm satisfaction.
If you believe you have been a victim of online fraud, you may also report the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Unit under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act 2015.
